Mr. Clean Magic Erasers Will Make Your Listings Show Better
This Inexpensive Miracle Worker Will Make Your Listings Show Better
I know what you’re thinking, “Inexpensive and miracle don’t really go together.” But, oh, they do! As a home stager, I have learned what products work and which ones are a waste of time and money. My team has found that Mr. Clean Magic Erasers (or as we like to call them MCMEs) are a game changer when it comes to preparing a home to sell quickly.
Find these handy little items at the grocery store or purchased online in bulk. Mr. Clean Magic Erasers will cost about $1.25 each. Check out these different ways to use these little miracles all around the house before you put it on the market:
Remove Handprints
You may not notice them every day, but handprints are all over the house. You’ll find evidence of them on light switches, door knobs, and sliding glass doors. If your client’s home has kids, then they are also prevalent on walls, especially on stair walls. We use damp magic erasers to swipe away prints and any dirt or smudges that may happen when we’re moving furniture in or out. If you keep one in your open house kit, you can remove any handprints before or after open houses. (Make sure to always test in an inconspicuous place, as every paint finish is different.)
Brighten Up Floorboards and Moldings
White or light colored moldings are a common spot in the house that gets dirty that isn’t cleaned on a regular basis. Wipe a damp MCME over moldings to clean away any dirt or scuffs and instantly brighten a room. Pay close attention to corners and areas near doorways as well.
Clear Fabric Stains
Light colored furniture is notorious for showing stains. Many fabric stains are easily removed with only a few brushes with a damp magic eraser. We always start by testing a damp MCME on an inconspicuous part of the furniture to make sure it doesn’t harm the fabric or color.
Clean Up Grout
Many homeowners can get their bathroom tiles clean but often forget that their grout used to be an entirely different color. Use a magic eraser on grout lines to polish them up to their original hue. Once again, test in an inconspicuous place to make sure the bleach in the MCME isn’t going to damage tile or grout. Do not use on marble or granite!
Polish Away Smudges
Did you know that you can also use dry magic erasers to clean glass and mirrors? We like to use dry MCMEs to polish glass tabletops and mirrors to wipe away fingerprints. You can also use them on glass sliding doors and oven windows as well.
There are plenty of ways to use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser when preparing a home to put on the market. Use this inexpensive miracle worker to make your listings show better.
